Okay, so as I am setting up my blog page, I find myself tasked with deciding on a “tagline”. In typical fashion my perfectionist tendencies see this as a monumental task- whittling down the blog’s existence (or is it mine?) in a few choice words. It has to be *just* right or I’ll get the urge at 2:00 am to change it before the whole world misinterprets my very reason for being! (or was it my blog’s?)
After I admit to myself that realistically there are probably only 2 people who will read this today (my mom & husband), the pressure is off and I make what turns out to be an easy decision:
See It. Feel It. Be It.
This works for me for too many reasons to discuss now, but I will share one. Most of us have heard Ghandi’s quote, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” I like it because the focus is on the doing instead of just sitting on the sidelines critiquing. Life is not a spectator sport (another good quote). The idea is to stop complaining about what you don’t like & start being what you do like. Problem is, you need a clear picture of what *change* it is you want to *be*. Otherwise it is easy to get derailed on your journey of self improvement or even stumble onto another path altogether.
See It. Formulate a clear picture of what you think is lacking in your world. Be sure to frame it in the positive as it’s more inspirational to embody, say, graciousness rather than dwelling on the rudeness of others.
Feel it. How does being gracious feel? If the change you are seeking is truly new to your own being, imagine what it would feel like to embody graciousness. If that is too difficult, ask yourself what experiencing more graciousness would do for you. Would you feel…Happier? More relaxed? More amenable to daily shifts & surprises?
Be It. The hard part is over. Once the first two steps are accomplished, the *being* is relatively easy & will pour out of you. And if it doesn’t? Rinse & repeat!

Why did you send it to me if you were so sure I would not read it?

I Love it, love it, love it. You are quite a good writer!!! Even Michelle — who I consider the best of all writers and who I have told I would want to be my Press Secretary should I become President — would be impressed.
